The president of the Paris judicial court denounced on Wednesday, July 23, "the public opprobrium cast on magistrates" by the Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, after she was sent to trial, alongside the former head of Renault-Nissan, Carlos Ghosn , for corruption and influence peddling. The mayor of the 7th arrondissement of Paris had stated on Tuesday on LCI that "the whole procedure was marred by incidents" , implicating certain magistrates who, according to her, "walk" on the rights of the defense.
"Anyone can freely provide any useful explanation to support their defense, as part of a statement ensuring respect for their presumption of innocence," Peimane Ghaleh-Marzban emphasizes in a press release. But " the public opprobrium cast on magistrates subject to the duty of confidentiality and unable to respond to these attacks, discredits the judicial authority and undermines the legitimate confidence of citizens in justice," he adds.
